So Annoying, I woke this morning and was convinced it was Saturday!! That was till DH came into the bedroom to kiss me goodbye as he was off to work, reality set in, and I realised it was only Thursday, which is not too bad as Thursday is my day off but I definitely do not want to go back to work tomorrow, normally I enjoy my job but it's been hell lately, we've had approximately 15 staff leave who haven't been replaced and the rest of us remaining are expected to do our own work and that of the ex employees, I have leave booked over the Christmas/New Year period and I am definitely looking forward to having a break.
I will probably spend most of it at the house we are renovating as I would like to get all the painting done if possible, I promise to take some photos next time we're there of the progress being made in the meantime here's a few crafty things I've made recently, all items are cross stitched, this is my summer craft (in the winter I crochet).
Off now to tackle some house work
Take care

Where did the week go?
Wow, it's Thursday night already, this week just seems to have passed in a blur.
Sunday - drive back from Canberra
Monday - work 10 - 8 (I do a four 10 hr days)
Tuesday - work and prepare for a job interview
Wednesday - work and attend said job interview
Thursday - day off, meet BS for lunch and a movie and
Friday - back to work
I really wanted to try and get some crafting done but that probably wont happen now until next week as this weekend we will be gardening and trying to finish off the painting in the 2nd bedroom.
I'm hoping to hear about the new job next week, there's 2 positions available so fingers crossed I get one.

Looking forward to Friday
Tomorrow morning I am off to my mums we will be driving to Canberra to catch up with LS, and BS (no it's not what you're thinking, it stands for baby sister) is coming with us. It will be the last time we will all see each other before Christmas so we have lots of stuff planned and I'm sure that there will be plenty of photos to bore you with when I come home.
Till next week

Under the weather part III
My sore throat has turned it a full blown cold and trying to keep my distance from DH (to hopefully avoid him becoming ill) is hard as all I want is snuggles to make me feel a little better.
I managed to wind 4 DMC threads onto cardboard bobbins last night, it was slow going with feeling yuck, but I figure it's better than nothing. I wanted something small and simple to cross stitch last night and decided I would do a little monkey pattern for DH as my nickname for him is cheeky monkey, this will be made up into a card and put away till out anniversary next year. As you can see my progress last night was quite slow but I'm happy with it so far.

My day off
As a result of changing my shift at work to 10 hour days, I get a day off during the week, I was told this could not be a Monday or Friday as these are two of our busiest days, so I opted for a Thursday and I certainly needed the break today, it's been crazy at work this week and whilst I'm grateful to have a job sometimes it just really takes it's toll.
My plan for today is to clean through the house and do the grocery shopping, not particularly exciting I know but it does mean that come the weekend I will be free to enjoy it with DH and not have to stress about getting all the washing and cleaning done, I will also be putting the slow cooker on and making us a meal for tonight and freezing any leftovers for next week.
Best get started

Under the weather part II
So I have been to the doc's and I have a throat infection (virus) this is the 2nd time in less than 6 weeks I've had some type of virus, doc seems to think it's stress related, so he has given me tomorrow off to rest (easier said than done). I have decided I will use this time to clean up my crafty area of the lounge room and continue on with some handmade Christmas presents, I've made all the required Christmas cards for DH's side of the family, and a few for mine but need to get the rest finished ASAP as some of them need to be posted to the U.K.
Under the weather
As the title suggests I am feeling some what under the weather, seriously who lives in Australia and gets a cold in November? Worst part is the sore throat and loss of taste, everything else I can cope with I just hate everything tasting so bland!! Hoping to be back to my usual self by Friday as I will be traveling down to Canberra to visit with my little sister (LS for short) and she has booked us on a wine tour so I definitely hope my taste buds are back to normal by Saturday.

The new/old fridge
Just over 12 months ago our main house fridge stopped working, every time we switched it on it would trip the power, I called around to family and friends to see if anyone had a spare fridge they could lend us, my younger sister said I could use the small fridge in her garage but I needed to organise transport, which we did (big thanks to my brother in law for giving up his beer fridge). In the meantime DH called Westinghouse who came out, serviced the fridge and said they could fix it all for $165.00. I was so relieved until DH got it into his head that it would be a good time to pull the entire fixed fridge apart and clean it, he removed the shelves and doors, cleaned them, and then just left them in the hallway, one month turned into two, two into three (you get where this is going yeah?) until today, I knew something was different, DH had woken up in one of his moods, today's mood started with him sorting through his clothes and donating what he no longer wears to the charity shops, he then moved on to sorting out his miniture collection (DH is somewhat of a gaming geek, he plays Bloodbowl, Warhammer, Malifaux etc) into what he wants to keep and what he wants to sell and then he picked up a fridge door...I held my breath was this really it, could I be getting my fridge back? DH looked at me and I smiled tentatively "Baby, can you pass me a screwdriver please?" I couldn't move fast enough, I handed him that screwdriver and watched as he attached both doors and set about moving the old fridge out and the new/old fridge back into the kitchen. To say I'm happy would be an understatement, I'm ecstatic, I know have my big fridge back!!

Change is in the air!!
Today is the last time I will be getting up at 3.30am to go to work, I have changed my shift at work and will now be working 4 x 10 hour shifts with Thursday, Saturday and Sunday as my days off, my start time also changes from 5am to 10.45am which means more time to spend with DH in the morning as he starts work at 9.30am. I'm very excited and can't wait to have a sleep in on Monday.
I've been reading a few blogs lately about families and couples that live a frugal life, some do it as they are trying to pay off/down debt, some have lost their jobs or had their hours cut at work, others may want to have enough money to support them during retirement and some do it due to the current state of the economy they just can't afford to spend the way they used too. I mentioned to DH that I would like to trial doing something like not spending for a month to see if it made a difference to how much money we had left at the end of the month but he said he's not too keen on the idea, however as we have separate bank accounts I would be able to trial this on my own, so I have decided not to trial it for a month but to make 2013 my frugal year hopefully to reduce debt (credit cards first, then mortgage) and build up my savings buffer (this will be the re draw facility I have on my mortgage).
Wish me luck
